Change in Leadership

Sister Christina Mitchell

After Sister Geraldine Klein was elected Congregational Leader and had to return to San Antonio to assume her new leadership role, the Sisters in Zambia nominated Sister Christina Mitchell to replace Sr. Geraldine. The General Council approved and appointed Sister Christina as the new Area Superior. Sister Christina says, “This (2016) has been a blessed year for us.”   

First Vows

Our novice, Sister Blessing Mary, from Nigeria pronounced her First Vows on September 17, 2016.

Come and See

Three young women came in February 2016 for a 3-month “Come and See” Program. After some time at home with their families, to discuss and reflect on their experience, and further discern their call, each believed that God is calling her to Religious Life. All three ladies decided to return to begin their Formation Process with the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate.

Pre-Novices

Abuti Matilda Malingu & Namunji Felicitous Numwa: Two of the young ladies, Matilda Malingu from Kenya, and Namunji Numwa, from Zambia became Pre-Novices on December 11, 2016.

New Affiliate

Chiamaka

Because of VISA challenges, it took Chiamaka some time to return from Nigeria. However, thank God she arrived safely, and shortly after her arrival she became an Affiliate on December 18, 2016. Later she will join the other two Pre-Novices in the Pre-novitiate

Renewal of Vows

Sister Angela Kashela renews her vows

Sister Angela Kashela renewed her Temporary Vows for two years on October 8, 2016. She has completed her first year at Trinity College, training to be a Home Economics Teacher. We congratulate Sister Angela on her renewed commitment to the Lord in Religious Life and in doing very well in her studies.

Graduations

Sister-Maimbolwa-Graduation

After returning from the United States, with a B.A. in Counseling from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Sister Maimbolwa Lutangu began a Master’s Degree “distance studies program.” Also shortly after her return she was appointed as a full-time Lecturer at Mongu Catholic College of Teacher Education.

On November 24, 2016, Sister Maimbolwa graduated from the University of Zambia, in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Open University, with a Master of Science Degree in Counseling. She graduated with Distinction, the highest honors.

Continuing Education

Sister-Matilda

Sister Matilda Chanda is a member of the Administrative Staff at her school as a Senior Teacher where she teaches full-time. She is also the Initial Formation Director for the Congregation in Zambia and is upgrading her Teacher’s Certificate to a B.S. in Education through a “distance study program” at St. Eugene University.
